In the modern times, Games & Sports have gained tremendous popularity over the globe. The popularity of sports is still increasing at a rapid pace and this inspiring trend will be likely to continue in the future also. Sports have become an important social and cultural activity of modern world. It serves vital social and cultural functions like:

  • Sports help in the all-round development of human personality.
  • Provide sample and healthy means of recreation and relaxation of human mind and body.
  • Provide opportunities for social interaction thereby fostering peace and understanding among different people, regions, nations, races and religions.
  • Perform preventive and curative functions for several diseases and ailments inflicting human body and mind.

Provide healthy and socially acceptable opportunities for the people to compete against each other thereby touching heights of excellence of human endeavor and attainment. Therefore the prime objective of promoting games and sports in Sagar Group of Institutions of repute is to provide ample facilities to the students to pursue at least one game of his/her choice and attain proficiency, derive pleasure and relax through this healthy medium, enabling competitive world of today.

Team of Experts
Our team of Friendly Sports Officers includes five well qualified Experts in Physical Education & Sports Sciences.

  • Kuldeep Singh (Sports Officer)
    B.P.E., M.P.E., P.G.D. in Yogic Sciences, P.G.D.C.A., International Technical Official- Canoeing, M.Phil.
  • Karan Deb (Sports Officer)
    B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., JRF qualified, Asian Football Confederation 'C' license in Football coaching, certificate holder in Fitness Management & Sport Event Management.
  • Varsha Sen (Sports Officer)
    B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed.
  • Preetika Gokhle (Sports Officer)
    B.Com. B.P.E.
  • Man Mohan Chandra Sen (Sports Officer)
    B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed.
In addition to the above listed staff, there are eight helping personnel looking after preparation and maintenance of various grounds.

Facilities
Since the inception of Sagar Group of Institutions (2001), the facilities of the following games and sports have been gradually added. Presently following games are offered both at practice and competitive level:-

The Group regularly participates in various Inter-Institution, Inter-Districts, and Inter-Division tournaments. Every year 5 to 10 students are selected to represent the Rajiv Gandhi Technical University to participate in All India Inter-University tournaments every year in number of games. Within the institute Inter-Branch competitions in number of sports and games are also held every year.

Major Achievements of Students in Sports

  • SISTec students Rajiv Ranjan, Pushkar Karan and Rahul Kumar have represented India in South Asian Targetball Championship 2015 held at Bhutan.
  • A total of 8 students have participated in All India Aquatics Championship 2014-2015 held at Jain University Bangalore.
  • Nitish Wankhede Student of M.Tech participated in West Zone Inter-University Volleyball Championship 2014-2015 held at Udaipur Rajasthan.
  • SISTec Football Men’s Team won third place in IIM-Indore Sports Festival 2014-2015.
  • Girls Kabaddi Team won First place in R.G.P.V State Kabaddi Championship 2014-2015 held at Gwalior.
  • Girls Badminton Team won Second place in R.G.P.V Nodal Badminton Championship 2014-2015 held at Bhopal.
  • Men’s Kabaddi Team secured second place in MANIT – Sportomania 2015.
  • Girls Volleyball Team secured second place R.G.P.V Nodal Volleyball Championship 2014-2015 held at Bhopal.
  • Men’s Kabaddi Team secured second place in R.G.P.V Nodal Kabaddi Championship 2014-2015 held at Bhopal.
